Bryant Earns Chartered Status

Congratulations to Bryant Morris, a Mechatronics Engineer at Custom Fluidpower who recently earned the status of Chartered engineer.

Custom Fluidpower is Australia’s largest independent fluid power solutions provider supplying quality hydraulic, pneumatic, filtration, lubrication and electronic products and services.

With an innovative approach, CFP consistently exceed industry expectations in market segments including Mining and Exploration, Marine, Agricultural, Aerospace, Industrial, Transport, Materials Handling, Defence, Construction and, Energy and Renewables.

Bryant is situated in the Newcastle office and has been with the company for 10 years. Starting out as an undergraduate engineer and then continuing with Custom Fluidpower as a graduate engineer. Completing his Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) at University of Newcastle in 2014, he continued into post grad study, completing a Master of Business Administration in 2020.

In September Bryant was awarded chartered engineer Certificate of Registration with Engineers Australia where he is now recognised for his skills and commitment to the highest professional standards. Chartered engineers develop solutions for engineering problems using new or existing technologies, through innovation, creativity and change. This level of qualification comes with technical accountability and a significant level of risk.

While getting the certification was an important step, Bryant is also actively working to gain recognition with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ) and will continue to need to engage in continuous professional development to maintain his chartered engineer status.

‘One of the great things about working at Custom Fluidpower is being able to take my electro-hydraulic design skills and apply them to the applications our clients bring to us, with each project being different with its own set of challenges. This helps to keep the work interesting and forces me to continue to innovate and improve my own skills’.

As governments and regulators continue to increase the level of oversight on design engineers in Australia, I felt it was important that I was proactive by preparing for future changes. This would allow me to continue to be in a position to support our clients by offering engineering and design services in the fluid power industry, when as the regulatory environment tightens’, Bryant said.

CEO of Custom Fluidpower, Graeme Vennell said that many of the organisation’s larger projects with major construction customers and some end users request certified engineering sign off.

‘Traditionally CFP has used third party organisations to verify our design work.

We made a decision to put some of our Engineers through this learning and development to add value to the business and allow us to provide a complete service to our customers’, said Graeme.

Bryant will use his qualifications to promote the process of design by risk assessment, integrating risk mitigation into the initial designs of new systems. This allows CFP to bring safer electro-hydraulic systems to the market and to its important clients.
