Flash Tank Rig

Application

The Flash Tank Rig is a hydraulically controlled actuator used to point a high-pressure water nozzle inside the ash tank so it is possible to clean scale out of the tanks during the shutdown period.

Solution

CFP has been working with RIO over the last couple of years to trial and understand which sensors on the market were able to survive in the caustic environment at Yarwun while still providing accurate feedback.

CFP trialled a few different types of sensors settling on angle sensors having shown to survive in the operating environment.

Using SUN hydraulics we were able to successfully provide automated cleaning sequences which help save time and provide consistent and accurate cleaning outcomes for the customer.
