Hydraulic Brake Power Unit
Application
Brake power units (for a luffing winch) are used on ship loaders to hold a boom in position and to stop them from falling. In older brake power units, the speed at which the brakes were applied took too long and could not handle the high ow of oil getting into the braking system.
Solution
Custom Fluidpower designed a tightly compact upgrade to the old brake power unit. This one, with safety features in mind, contains two large valves (one for redundancy), and a fail-safe brake. The upgrade allows pressure to 50 bar then decay to 0 bar in 2-3 seconds.
