30 years with Shane Gleeson

Congratulations to our Perth Branch Manager, Shane Gleeson for 30 years with CFP.
In 1992 Custom Fluidpower advertised for a store person in its Western Australian branch at Kewdale, and a successful candidate was secured. The new starter soon confessed that he was going to leave in a few months to head to the USA and try his hand at the amateur golf tour but recommended a friend who lived in Collie, south of Perth.
Enter a young fresh-faced Shane Gleeson who took the job in the store and then progressed to an internal sales role. Early in his career Shane decided to give external sales a try but found it tough going and asked to return to internal customer service. Barry Whittaker (AKA Mr Brakes WA) would not hear of it and convinced Shane to stick with the external sales role. Once Shane cracked a couple of big orders, his confidence grew, and he continued to excel.
Shane gained management skills in the early 2000’s at Naval Base, Custom Fluidpower’s branch south of Perth. In 2008, Brian Radalj (former CFP Director) transitioned out as branch manager in Kewdale and took a back seat role providing an opening for Shane to be promoted to branch manager. Not long after, the Kewdale and Naval Base branches were combined to create one big, successful site.
Shanes is an integral part of the executive management team with Custom Fluidpower. Driving the niche brakes division for the business and securing major projects including a recent win with BHP – a multinational mining, metals and petroleum company, Perth is on a mission to be the most successful branch in the fleet.
We asked Shane 5 quick questions to celebrate the milestone, and is his true over achiever style, he answered 6!
- If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Perth of course.
- What is your favourite family vacation? It was taking long service leave in 2007 traveling around the Northwest and swimming with the whale sharks in Exmouth.
- If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Corned Beef & Cabbage
- What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? Horse in Switzerland. And no, it doesn’t taste like chicken.
- On a scale of 1-10 how funny would you say you are? 1 according to my wife and kids. Apparently, dad jokes are not funny🙄

Well done, Shane, we hope you celebrated this milestone in style. Custom Fluidpower looks forward to many more years with you.
