Pressure Detection Device for Hydraulic Hoses
Fluid injection injury claims exceeded the number of electrical shock claims by nearly triple in the NSW Coal Industry during 2007-08 to 2010-11.
Custom Fluidpower, with the support of the Australian Coal Association Research Program, is currently developing a pressure detection device (PDD) for hydraulic hoses.
The PDD will offer a last line of defence against high pressure fluid injuries after existing isolation and safety procedures have been followed. Suitable for all hose brands up to SAE 100R15 and hose sizes up to 2” or 50.8mm ID, the PDD will detect pressure over 20 Bar (290 PSI) and alert the operator accordingly.
The device is currently being refined for commercial release which is expected in less than 12 months time. (Patent Pending - patent application number 2010903070).
