Secure Ship Loaders with Storm Brakes

Australia is a country with a large requirement for shipping transport, but also a country with volatile weather.
In Brisbane 2008, devastating storms hit the area resulting in a ship unloader at the Port of Brisbane being blown along the wharf with damaging results (see photos). The existing long travel drive brakes couldn’t hold the machine. Luckily the boom was able to be raised in time before a collision with the ship superstructure.
Custom Fluidpower will be retrofitting Hillmar rail clamps to this ship unloader to improve safety in the future.
Throughout the coastline of Australia, there are many ports using older equipment, where retrofitting of storm brakes could improve safety, and of course, have these brakes incorporated in new builds.
